Nechells POD
The POD in Nechells is a community resource centre from which a number of agencies work to provide services to the Nechells community.
Based at the POD is the Nechell+ Education Action Zone and Heartlands Extended Services which have a particular remit for raising aspirations, empowering learning, providing access to high quality child care, a varied menu of out of hours activities, access to parenting support, family and adult learning and swift and easy access to specialist and targeted services. The POD also has the office for the Birmingham Looked After Children Education Service Outreach Support Team.
The POD needed a website that allowed children, young people and their families in Nechells and voluntary and statutory organisations to find out about all the activities and services available at the POD. The web site needed to be easily accessable to a range of individuals with varying levels of computer confidence, giving a professional overview of all that is on offer at the POD. Another requirement was to be able to canvas views regarding activities and services provided to ensure they met the needs and requirements of the local community.
As complete website novices we set the challenge to develop a website regarding The POD, a community resource base housing a variety of education services. Our organisation turned to Little Tree for their help, support and guidance. What resulted is a comprehensive website which is professional and accessible to all, including people working in education, local statutory and voluntary organisations, members of the community, families, children and young people. Little Tree Software worked in a way that demystified web site design, empowered staff to feel confident in ongoing development of the site and allowed flexibility as the website evolved. Little Tree offered an outstanding service, were innovative, creative and professional. They paid great attention to detail and a willingness to help and direct in the evolution of our site.
